A community-focused yoga center in the heart of Memphis

I started Evergreen Yoga Center in 2006 with the hope of creating a friendly, accepting and welcoming place for anyone to experience yoga.

Practicing yoga transformed my life in all areas. Yoga helped me get stronger & more flexible physically. And it has given me practical ways to settle down my anxious mind.

I went to yoga class for the first time in 1996. It helped me feel more centered and relaxed afterward. Having tried seated meditation, I realized sitting still was not for me. I had low expectations that yoga would help quiet my mind and relieve anxiety, but it does that and more.

Gradually (and with practice), I have become physically stronger and more flexible. Then more centered. None of it happened quickly, but it over time small changes led to bigger ones.

Yoga Goes to the Dentist

Yesterday I got to spend 45 minutes in the spotlight! At least my mouth did. At promptly 11 a.m. my regular teeth-cleaning appointment began with some unfortunate news. My usual hygienist, Lisa, had recently retired. The new woman was nice enough....

Testimonials

Our Awesome Students

What I like about yoga, and particularly about the Iyengar method, is the focus on the cooperation of mind and body.  The discipline of the asanas is a form of meditation, and that meditation releases the mind from other troublesome thoughts.

David

Sunday mornings, yoga is still my rock. Each Sunday class is different – sometimes in class I find myself anticipating what is next. Other times, I wonder if I will make it through. Even when I allow myself to peek at the clock during a class – I am ALWAYS better for going.

Thank you again for your gifts of creativity and clear instructions (always welcome in the studio, and even more so for the online medium).
